Outfit #1

I instantly liked the ruffles on this shift dress from J. Crew Factory when I laid eyes on it. There were many colors available in this style. But when I spotted the black and white stripped dress, ‘like’ turned into “love”.  (Insert happy dance here.) Black and white will forever be my favorite color combination.  It’s timeless, seasonless, and elegant. When paired with right accessories you can really make it pop! It’s an excellent choice for the school day. Get in my closet!

Outfit #2

In Texas, it still feels like mid summer when school starts due to our blazing hot temperatures. Dressing cool is the way to go. I was sure to snag this adorable floral printed top. If you’re dress code doesn’t allow sleeveless tops, and you’re looking for an alternative, this top is a great choice! The poplin fabric really breathes and the big ruffles provide ventilation as well as style. The mixture of darker and lighter colors gives it versatility. It’s a great piece to really dress up your basics. Pair this top with black pants for a polished look. Or pair it with crisp white pants for a cool look. Don’t worry about the white after Labor Day rule. It’s obsolete!

Outfit #3

A well rounded wardrobe is 70% basics and 30% trendy. If you choose a trendy piece for the school day, it should be these cropped pants!  They’re a great transitional item at the beginning of the school year from summer to fall, and then again at the end of the school year from spring to summer. You see, I’m thinking ahead. The floral print is playful, the cut sophisticated, and the length cool. If your dress code allows open toed shoes (mine does), these cropped pants are great to wear with sandles. There is no need to give up your summer pedicures just yet. And let’s not over look knitted top. I adore the bow. It’s super comortable and available in other color choices.

Outfit #4 

Before you know it, the cooler temperatures of Autumn will arrive and we’ll be reaching for our sweaters and jackets.  Each year J. Crew Factory offers the softest knits for fall, and this year is no different. I picked up a round neck sweater in vibrant golden rod- the color of Autumn.  This hue looks great on all skin tones. It can easily be combined with black, white, or brown pants for the school day. At the end of the week, pair it with your denim jeans and you’ve put together a great casual look for the weekend.
