My husband, photographer Jason Gilmore of J and J Studio, called as I left my daughter’s swim class. “I’ve been hired for the 2nd week in July to shoot a some homes…in Costa Rica!” I could hear the smile his voice. “You’re kidding!” I gasped, but he wasn’t. He has been contracted to shoot interior, exterior, and arial photos of a private resort community near Samara, Costa Rica. It was an opportunity to mix work and vacation as we often do. However, we had less than 10 days to prepare!
I recently partnered with Vacay Style via Style Collective for their new summer apparel. Vacay Style is a San Franciso, California based company created to make vacation planning easier. They offer stylish wrinkle free looks that are designed to give its wearers flexibility and comfort. You can buy one piece or purchase an entire collection that works together to create a number of outfits for your travels.
The previous week I had looked over their website, but was still undecided about which piece to choose. Everything was just too lovely. Now it seemed that I was out of time! Oh well, I thought, I will go ahead and select an item before it sold out. Maybe, I can wear it on another trip.
Shipping: I placed my order for the Belize Tiered Skirt on Tuesday morning and didn’t think about it any longer. What a surprise I recieved when it arrived on Friday morning! Vacay Style is true to their word. They offer free shipping and returns on all orders. As stated on their website, my shipment arrived within 3-5 days. Vacay Style also emailed me to ensure that my package had been received. What great customer service!
Quality: Right away, I was impressed by the vibrant colors and softness of the Belize Tiered Skirt. The fabric is not coarse or stiff at all. It made of a light weight cotton and rayon blend. I packed my bag and a few days later we boarded our flight to Costa Rica. After being folded in my luggage for at least 24 hours, I was pleased to discover not one wrinkle once we arrived at our destination. The fabric is truly travel friendly.
Fit: The Belize Tiered Skirt fit my 5ft 7inch tall frame easily as a midi-skirt. I ordered an x-small and found it true to size. It’s not too loose, nor too tight. The elastic band did not dig into my waist or cause any discomfort. It’s airy feel kept me cool in the hot humid Costa Rican climate. The dress did not stick to my skin while we lounged by the pool, took a jungle hike, or played on the Samara beach.
Versatility: I never planned on wearing the Belieze Tired Skirt as anything other than a skirt. However, when the neighbors dropped by to say hello, I hurried out of the pool and into the the Belieze Tiered Skirt. It served as a fantastic swimsuit cover-up. You cannot see through the fabric of the Belieze Tiered Skirt, adding to yet another advantage of wearing it as a cover-up.
Garment Care: Directions for care state: “Machine Wash Cold, No Tumble Dry. Or Dry Clean.” Imagine the horror I felt when I opened the dyer the next day. My husband had washed and dried my skirt with my daughter’s beach shorts from the night before. My new skirt had shrunk 2 full inches! With quick thinking, I saturated the skirt in cold water once more, and re-stretched the fabric with my hands. I hung it to dry hoping that gravity would be my savior. How delighted I felt the next morning to see it had returned to it original length! So please follow the garment care instructions and forgo the dryer to avoid a heart attack. (However, should your husband accidentally machine dry your garment there still may be hope.)
With full honesty, I can say that The Belize Tiered Skirt by Vacay Style has become a new favorite piece. It has truly been put to the test during this week in Costa Rica. I will definitely purchase another garment from Vacay Style. I’m sure you will love their quality just as I have. Please consider choosing Vacay Style for your next vacation.
